A Look Back at the Best Hairstyles for Black Women in 2014

Bobcut with deep side part and bold red lipstick

As we begin a new year, I can’t help but to think back on some of my  favorite hairstyles of 2014.  I’ve compiled a list of some of the best hairstyles for black women, including (bob cuts, hair color, pixie cuts and natural hairstyles).  There are so many great hairstylists and women with beautiful hair, however for now I’ll just countdown my top looks of 2014. Please note, these are my own opinions.    I’ve listed them from one to 10, but trust me when I say, I LOVE all these looks!

In no particular order, here are my favorite looks…

10). Sim Sima Da Natural Hair Innovator (Brooklyn, NY)

“Da Sim Sima” is a signature natural hair up-do done by Voice of Hair Featured Brooklyn stylist “Sim Sim Da Natural Hair Innovator”. This style is gorgeous and perfect for any occasion!

9). Rozie Katore (Atlanta, GA)

This purple and grey ombre bob cut done by Atlanta stylist, Rozie Katore gives life! Seriously, the color and cut of this bob are so chic. Reneice Samuels (the client) is definitely making a statement with this style.  She’s saying “I’m bold and I have no fear!”  LOVE IT!

8).  Dominique Nicole (Philadelphia, PA)

This natural hair faux hawk (fake mohawk) is one of my favorites, done by Voice of Hair Featured Philly stylist, Dominique Nicole ! It would be beautiful for a wedding or a special occasion.  It’s truly stunning!

7). Yolanda Luxe (Cleveland, OH)

This multi-colored bob cut done by Featured Voice of Hair Cleveland stylist, Yolanda Luxe is EVERYTHING! She is truly one of the most skilled colorists that I’ve seen! Also, she did this amazing silk out on natural hair.  Love the shine and dimensional color!

6). Anthony Elliot (Virginia)

This bob done by Voice of Hair featured stylist Anthony Elliot was one of the most popular Instagram hairstyles of 2014! What makes this style so special is the custom color baylage (definition: a technique for highlighting the hair in which the dye is painted on in such a way as to create a graduated, natural-looking effect).  The blend of brown, grey and blue make this bob so amazing.  Not to mention the fact that this is actually a sew in! It looks so natural! What closure?!

5). Teion Sealy (Trinidad & Tobago)

I fell in love with this wanded custom colored style done by Trinidad & Tobago stylist Teion Sealey.  The pops of color were so unexpected but still bold enough to make you do a double-take.  My favorite part of this look was the ombre from purple to blue to pink! This color is amazing and the curls just bring out how beautiful it is.

4). Shauntraille Warren (Houston, TX)

There are few things sexier than a sleek bob with a little bit of hair in your face.  This bob cut done by Houston stylist Shantraille Warren is the epitome of sexy! I just love how confident she looks. The bob is asymmetrical, which helps it to swing and flow.  I love everything about this bob!

3).  Hedeshia “Glam Freak” Robertson (Los Angeles)

Protective styles are perfect for the summer or when you’re trying to keep heat out of your hair.  However, Voice of Hair Featured LA hairstylist Hedeshia Robertson strives to make protective styles, like braids, look glamorous! This transformation is so amazing because her braids, known as “Glam Braids”  are so neat and you can’t see where she has added extensions.  The hair looks silky, even in the braids– GORGEOUS!

2). Rochelle Gregory (St. Louis, MO)

This quick weave pixie cut done by St. Louis stylist Rochelle Gregory is so bold and beautiful! She did this look for a client who was celebrating a birthday.  Now, this is definitely the way to let everyone know it’s your special day! She did a razor cut on this bob, giving it lots of movement and making it look natural.  Simply stunning!

1). Dominique Evans (Atlanta, GA)

This quick weave bob cut installed by Atlanta stylist, Dominique Evans, is one of the sexiest bob cuts I have EVER seen.  That deep side part on Jazzmin Jordan (pictured below)  and light layers in her bang just make this look stand out amongst typical cuts.  She is truly gifted at creating cuts that have tons of movement.  The fact is, a bob is not really a bob if it doesn’t move, right?!  (Ok, well that’s how I see it).

So these were just a few of my favorites looks in 2014.  I can’t wait to see what 2015 brings.  I know it’s going to be AMAZING!
